Vietnam E-Visa Processing Time 2026: Official Timeline vs Reality vs Expedited

Official Vietnam e-visa processing is 3 working days; reality in 2026 is often 4-7 in…

The official Vietnam e-visa processing time is 3 working days, but real-world processing in 2026 often runs 4–7 working days during peak season — and “working days” exclude Vietnamese weekends and holidays. Expedited agency processing compresses this to 1 working day, or 2–8 working hours for emergencies. Here is what the timeline actually looks like, scenario by scenario.

Updated: July 3, 2026 — by the KissTour team. We revise this when policy or observed timelines change.

Vietnam E-Visa Processing Time: Official vs Reality

Channel Advertised Realistic in 2026 Cost
Official portal (evisa.gov.vn) 3 working days 3–5 days normal, 4–7 days peak season $25 USD single / $50 USD multiple
Agency — standard 3 working days 3–4 days $40–60 USD total
Agency — urgent 1 working day 1 working day ~$50–120 USD total
Agency — super urgent 2–8 working hours 2–8 working hours (business hours only) ~$150–250+ USD total

Why does the official 3 days stretch? Volume spikes (December–March high season), incomplete applications bouncing back for edits, and holiday backlogs. The portal does not notify you of problems proactively — applications sit until you check.

What “3 Working Days” Actually Means

The clock runs on Vietnam government hours: Monday–Friday, Vietnam time (GMT+7), excluding public holidays. Concrete examples:

  • Apply Monday 9 AM Vietnam time → official target: Thursday.
  • Apply Thursday evening → the clock starts Friday; target becomes Tuesday–Wednesday next week.
  • Apply during Tet (Lunar New Year, next: February 2027) → add up to a full week. Government offices close nationally.

If you are applying from the Americas or Europe, remember the time difference: your Tuesday evening is already Wednesday in Vietnam.

Timeline Planner: When Should You Apply?

Your flight is in… Do this
3+ weeks Apply on the official portal for $25 USD. Relax.
1–2 weeks Official portal still works — apply today, not tomorrow. Peak season: consider an agency standard service for the follow-up.
3–6 days Gray zone. Official is possible but has no recourse if it runs long. An agency urgent (1-day) service removes the gamble.
1–2 days Agency urgent or super urgent only. See our emergency visa guide.
Today / tomorrow Super urgent (2–8 working hours), business hours only. Follow the flying-tomorrow checklist.

How to Check Your Application Status

  1. Go to the official portal’s status-check page (evisa.gov.vn) with your registration code, email, and date of birth.
  2. Status “Processing” past day 3: this is common — do not reapply and double-pay; a duplicate application can flag both.
  3. Status shows an edit request: fix and resubmit the same day — the clock restarts on edits.
  4. Approved: download the PDF, check every letter of your name against your passport, print two copies.

Common Delays — and the Fix for Each

  • Passport scan rejected: retake in daylight, all corners visible, no glare. This alone causes a large share of “slow” applications.
  • Name mismatch: enter your name exactly as the passport machine-readable line shows it, middle names included.
  • Peak-season volume: nothing to fix — just apply earlier or pay for expedited handling.
  • Wrong entry checkpoint: if you already know you selected the wrong airport, you need a new application — catch it before you fly, not at the immigration counter.

FAQ

Can I speed up an application already submitted on the official portal?
No official mechanism exists. Agencies expedite by submitting fresh applications through their channels — which means paying again. This is why the 3–6 day gray zone favors deciding early.

Do weekends count in processing time?
No. Saturday and Sunday in Vietnam do not move your application. Some agencies offer weekend processing for emergencies at premium rates.

Is the e-visa still $25 USD in 2026?
Yes — $25 USD single entry, $50 USD multiple entry on the official portal, non-refundable even if refused. Anything above that is agency service fees.

How early can I apply?
Months ahead — you select your entry date in the application, and validity starts from that date, not approval date. Early application costs nothing extra and removes all timeline risk.

My status has said Processing for 6 days. Should I panic?
Not yet. Check for edit requests first, verify your email spam folder, and if the flight is inside 3 days, run an urgent application in parallel through an agency — message us on WhatsApp (+84 901 006 844) if you want honest advice on your specific timeline.
