The best time to visit Da Nang is February to May: dry skies, 24–30°C days, and a calm sea. June to August is hotter (up to 35°C) but still solid beach weather. The heaviest rain falls in October and November. Our riders run tours year-round — we just plan smarter in the wet months.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Da Nang?
February to May is the best time to visit Da Nang. Monthly rainfall stays under 50 mm, humidity is at its yearly low, and daytime temperatures hold between 24°C and 30°C (75–86°F). The sea off My Khe Beach is warm enough for swimming from late March.
If you can only pick one month, our guides pick April: dry, warm but not scorching, and it lands before the domestic summer crowds arrive in June.
What Is Da Nang Weather Like Month by Month?
Da Nang has two clear seasons: a dry season from roughly February to August, and a rainy season from September to December driven by the northeast monsoon. Here is the year at a glance:
| Month | Temperature | Rain | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | 19–25°C | Light | Cool with occasional drizzle; good for city and food |
| February | 20–26°C | Low | Dry season starts; comfortable everywhere |
| March | 21–28°C | Low | Dry and warm; the sea starts to invite |
| April | 23–31°C | Low | Our guides’ favorite month |
| May | 25–33°C | Low | Beach season; DIFF fireworks begin |
| June | 26–35°C | Low–moderate | Hot; mornings and evenings are golden |
| July | 26–35°C | Low–moderate | Hot; peak domestic holiday crowds |
| August | 26–34°C | Moderate | Still beach weather; showers return late month |
| September | 25–32°C | High | Rain builds; typhoon watch begins |
| October | 23–29°C | Very high | Wettest month of the year |
| November | 22–27°C | Very high | Heavy rain; typhoon risk continues |
| December | 19–24°C | Moderate | Rain eases; cool and quiet |
These are long-term averages. From September onward, check the forecast a few days out rather than trusting the season.
When Is the Rainy Season in Da Nang?
Da Nang’s rainy season runs from September to December, and October–November are the two wettest months. Typhoons off the coast mostly arrive between September and November.
Here is what forecast apps miss: the rain rarely falls all day. “October rain in Da Nang comes down hard for an hour, then the sky opens up again. We check the radar each morning and move the route around it,” says Vy, one of our áo dài riders.
Our weather policy is simple: tours run rain or shine, and every guest gets a poncho. If an actual storm is coming, we cancel and refund you in full.
When Should You Come for the Beach?
May to August is the best beach window in Da Nang: the sea is at its warmest and calmest, with water around 28–29°C. Go before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. in June and July — midday sand gets too hot to walk barefoot. From late October the sea turns rough, and red flags go up often.
What About Festivals and Crowds?
The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) lights up the Han River across early summer — the 2026 edition ran from May 30 to July 11, 2026, with shows on Saturday nights from 8 p.m. Riverside hotels fill up on show weekends, so book ahead if your trip overlaps.
Two more dates to plan around: Tet (Lunar New Year, mid-February in 2027), when domestic travel peaks and many small restaurants close for several days, and the June–August school holidays, when Vietnamese families fill the beach hotels.
Which Months Are Good for a Tour?
All of them — but match the tour to the season. On clear dry-season days, the views from Ba Na Hills ($105 USD per person for groups of 2–4) are worth the cable car alone. Our city tour ($40 USD) and by-night tour ($35 USD) run comfortably in any month, and the food tour ($49 USD) is the rainy-day favorite — most stops are under cover, and the food tastes better when it pours. A Hoi An day trip ($40 USD) fits best in the dry months.

FAQ: Best Time to Visit Da Nang
What is the rainiest month in Da Nang?
October, with November close behind. The two months together account for the bulk of the city’s annual rainfall.
Is Da Nang worth visiting in the rainy season?
Yes, if you stay flexible. Hotels drop their prices, the food scene runs as usual, and rain usually falls in bursts rather than all day. Our tours run rain or shine with ponchos provided; storms mean a full refund.
When is low season for hotel prices?
September to January, outside the Tet holiday. Beachfront rooms that go fast in June often sit discounted in November.
Can you swim in Da Nang in December?
Not really. The sea is rough and the air is cool — treat December as a city-and-food month, not a beach month.
Is June too hot for Da Nang?
Afternoons hit 33–35°C, so plan pool or cafe time from noon to 4 p.m. Mornings and evenings are pleasant, which is why our night tour is popular in summer.
