Things to Do in Da Nang — a local guide to the city

Things to Do in Da Nang 2026: A Local’s Guide

Da Nang rewards three to four days. Cross the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills,…

Da Nang rewards three to four days. Cross the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills, climb the Marble Mountains for about 40,000 VND ($1.70), watch the Dragon Bridge breathe fire at 9pm on weekends, swim at My Khe Beach, then day-trip to Hoi An. February to May is the driest, sunniest window.

I’ve driven guests around Da Nang more times than I can count, and the question is always the same: with limited days, what’s actually worth it? Here’s the honest local answer — the sights that earn their spot, what they cost in 2026, and when to go so the rain doesn’t chase you off the beach.

What Are the Best Things to Do in Da Nang?

Da Nang packs beaches, mountains, a river of bridges and world-class day trips into one compact city. The essentials most first-timers should not miss:

  • Ba Na Hills & the Golden Bridge — the giant stone-hands bridge and one of the world’s longest cable cars.
  • Marble Mountains — five limestone peaks full of caves, pagodas and viewpoints.
  • Dragon Bridge fire & water show — free, weekend nights at 9pm.
  • My Khe Beach — nine kilometres of soft sand minutes from downtown.
  • Son Tra Peninsula & the Lady Buddha — forest roads and the tallest Buddha statue in Vietnam.
  • Han Market & the riverside street-food scene — where locals actually eat.

How Much Does Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge Cost?

In 2026 a Ba Na Hills ticket for international visitors is about 950,000 VND (roughly $36) for adults and 750,000 VND for children. That single ticket covers the cable car, the Golden Bridge, the French Village and the themed areas — so budget a full day. Go early: the bridge and cable cars get crowded and cloud often rolls in by mid-afternoon. If you’d rather skip the taxi haggling and queues, our Ba Na Hills tour includes a private car, a woman guide and the cable-car ticket — door to door in one day.

When Does the Dragon Bridge Breathe Fire?

The Dragon Bridge puts on its fire-and-water show every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9:00pm. It runs about 15 minutes and it’s completely free. Grab a riverside spot by 8:40pm — the head of the dragon (east end) is the best view, and yes, the first few rows near the water do get a little wet.

Are the Marble Mountains Worth It?

Absolutely, and they’re the best value in the city. Entry is about 40,000 VND (~$1.70), with a small extra fee (around 15,000 VND) for the elevator up. Inside you’ll find caves, Buddhist shrines and 360-degree views over the coast. Wear real shoes — the steps are steep and slick after rain. An hour and a half is enough for the highlights.

Where Should You Go to the Beach in Da Nang?

My Khe Beach is the easy choice: nine kilometres of clean sand, gentle waves and it’s a short ride from the centre. Mornings are calmest and best for swimming. There’s no entrance fee; you only pay if you rent a sun lounger. For quieter sand, keep heading north toward the Son Tra side.

What About Son Tra Peninsula and the Lady Buddha?

Son Tra is the green hill you see from the beach. Ride up for the 67-metre Lady Buddha statue — the tallest in Vietnam — sea views and a good chance of spotting monkeys along the forest road. It pairs perfectly with a sunset before dinner. The roads are winding, so I always tell guests it’s far nicer on the back of a bike with someone who knows the bends.

Where Do Locals Eat in Da Nang?

Da Nang food is its own reason to visit — mi quang (turmeric noodles), banh xeo, seafood by the beach and the city’s famous banh mi. Han Market and the small riverside spots off Bach Dang street are where you’ll find the real thing. For a guided taste, our Da Nang food tour ($49, 4 hours) eats through the market stalls and riverside spots with a local guide — and our Central Vietnam route pairs Da Nang with Hoi An’s old town.

How Many Days Do You Need in Da Nang?

Three to four days is the sweet spot: one for Ba Na Hills, one for Marble Mountains plus the beach and Dragon Bridge at night, and a day trip to Hoi An. Add a fourth for Son Tra and a slow morning by the sea. Any less and you’ll be rushing the parts that matter.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Da Nang?

The dry season runs February to August. February to May is ideal — warm, low humidity and little rain. June and July are the hottest, sometimes touching 40°C. Avoid September to December if you can: those are the wettest months, and November alone averages around 467 mm of rain. If you do come in the wet season, mornings are usually drier than afternoons.

Da Nang FAQ

Is Da Nang worth visiting in 2026?

Yes. It’s Vietnam’s most balanced city break — beach, mountains, great food and Hoi An an hour away — and it’s far less hectic than Hanoi or Saigon.

Is Da Nang or Hoi An better?

Da Nang for the beach, nightlife and modern comfort; Hoi An for lantern-lit old-town charm. Most guests base in Da Nang and day-trip to Hoi An, which is only about 45 minutes away.

How do I get from Da Nang Airport to the city?

The airport sits inside the city, about 10–15 minutes from the beach. Grab and taxis are easy. If you’d rather skip the immigration queue on arrival, we also offer airport fast track at Da Nang (DAD).

Is Da Nang safe for solo and women travellers?

Very. It’s one of the most relaxed cities in Vietnam. Normal city sense applies, and with our women-driver guides many solo travellers feel especially comfortable.

What’s the rainiest month in Da Nang?

November, averaging around 467 mm of rain. October and November together are the wettest stretch of the year.
